— Welcome I’m Katherine

About me

I help people build a realistic financial plan to leave the rat race and move abroad.

I’m Katherine Haan, a personal finance writer, former financial advisor, bestselling romance author, and longtime traveler who believes moving abroad should be more than a daydream. It should be a plan.

Fund Your Exit is for people who want out.

Out of the grind. Out of the paycheck-to-paycheck cycle. Out of the idea that life has to be built around a mortgage, car payments, consumer debt, and a job that eats most of your waking hours.

Geoarbitrage means using location to make your income stretch further. That might mean earning U.S. dollars while living in a lower-cost country, moving somewhere with better healthcare costs, reducing housing expenses, or building a life that gives you more room in the budget.

Most people don’t need another dreamy article about quitting everything and moving to the beach. They need numbers. They need timelines. They need to know what happens with debt, banking, taxes, income, pets, healthcare, visas, investments, and housing.
That is what Fund Your Exit covers.

The Four Pillars

Exit Planning
Build a realistic timeline for leaving, choose a destination that fits your life, and figure out what needs to happen before you go.

Budget
Compare your current cost of living with what life could cost abroad. Plan for rent, food, healthcare, transportation, flights, insurance, fees, and the weird expenses people forget until they are already moving.

Debt
Decide what to pay off, what to manage, and how debt affects your options. Moving abroad can lower your cost of living, but it does not erase financial obligations back home.

Income + Investments
Create portable income, understand how work changes when you live abroad, and keep your long-term finances moving in the right direction.

Why I Built This

A lot of people are tired of doing everything “right” and still feeling stuck.

They work. They budget. They cut back. They delay the life they actually want because the math in the U.S. keeps getting harder.

Moving abroad is not the answer for everyone. But for some people, it can change the equation.

Fund Your Exit helps you look at the practical side before making a major life change. The goal is not to sell a fantasy. The goal is to help you figure out whether this path is realistic for you, what it would cost, and what steps would make it safer.

If you want to move abroad someday, start with the money.

That is where your exit begins.
